Once again, I’d like to invite you to my annual faculty recital. The theme of this year’s program is “Masterworks of Chamber Music”. I’ve selected from the finest ensemble pieces for the flute, and will be joined by many friends and colleagues.
The Sonata for flute and piano by Robert Mucsynski is among the greatest American sonatas and is a high-enegry, exciting piece. Performing with me will be the renowned Hollywood film studio pianist, Bryan Pezzone. Cello Professor, Joon Sung Jun and 7 of his students will join me in the beautiful aria from Braziliarus Bachianas No. 5 by Hector Villa-Lobos. Then Professor Jun will join me in a flute and cello duo, also by Villa-Lobos, entitled The Jet Whistle.
The second half of the program will feature the Sonate for flute, harp and viola by Claude Debussy– one of the greatest chamber works encompassing the flute. Harpist Marcia Dickstein and violist Ken Aiso will join me. The recital will end with a set by the Caliendo Trio who are composer/guitarist Christopher Caliendo and cellist Armen Ksajikian. We will perform World music favorites, Latin and jazz compositions by Christopher Caliendo, including 3 World premieres.
Of course a reception will follow the performance and you are all invited. The proceeds from the recital go directly to the BCCM Woodwind Area. Hope you can join us!
